Lifting cable
What optimun size/quality of metal cable is most widely used? I have an 8 room custom made wooden house currently raised/lowered with nylon rope and plan to install a winch and replace the rope with metal cable. Would appreciate any suggestions.

- Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.
We used 3/16 stainless steel cable. Got it at Lowe's. It's in the aisle where they have all the nuts, bolts, screws, etc. Look on the bottom shelf. They cut it to size. You will also need crimp ends.

I too use the 3/16 stainless from Lowes. The first T14 I built I bought the cable with the clear plastic. After a couple years the coating broke down and was causing problems, so from then on out its stainless cable.
