Project MartinWatch

What is Project MartinWatch? Project MartinWatch (PMW) is a citizen-science project—where landlords across North America monitor their Purple Martin colony by conducting weekly nest checks and recording what they find. Collecting data such as nesting dates, number of eggs laid, how many eggs hatch and how many nestlings fledge.

What Data Do We Collect?   During a nest check landlords collect data such as nesting dates, number of eggs laid, how many eggs hatch, and how many nestlings successfully fledge.

How Does it Help?  By participating in Project MartinWatch it helps you keep track of your colony site.  Monitoring the colony is the best way to detect, and help prevent, problems such as predation, parasites, and premature fledging.   When you submit your data to the Purple Martin Conservation Association you are adding to a database of tens of thousands of reports documenting the changes in Purple Martin nesting over the years.
