In doing a routine check of my martin artificial gourds I found in one of the gourds to dead martins. One clearly and adult male and one I believe to be a subadult male . There were peck marks on the heads of both. I have the starling resistant entrances and have not seen any sign of starling activity. Any thoughts about what is going on?

If they were both males within the same cavity it could have been a fight to both their deaths. I haven't had experience with sparrows attacking my Martins, but I can't imagine it taking out 2 of them. Just a couple thoughts.
