tree swallows

We have a sreh. Could a hole like that be made for tree swallows. I want too protect the ts from house sparrows. I know a bluebird couldnt get in .Has anybody tried it?

I doubt it would work - house sparrows are smaller than martins and tree swallows, so how would you keep them out, while still letting swallows in? SREHS work at keeping starlings out of martin compartments/gourds, most of the time, because starling has bigger circumference at breast than martin does. Don't we all wish there was a way to exclude house sparrows!
