supplemental feeding platform placement

My colony is located on the dam of one of my ponds and consists of two "T-14's" with Troyer gourds mounted below. (44 nest cavities) I also have two cheap plastic houses that I have at the edge of the colony to serve as over-flow housing for sub-adults who do not have a mate. My farm is located in s...

Re: The Grim Reaper…Twelve O’ Clock High…Purple Martins Beware!

Steve, I enjoyed your "Grim Reaper" post! I too have a large colony that seems to be a magnet for the "air force" that you describe so well. I have a very healthy owl population on my farm, as well as Cooper's, Sharp-Shins, and Red Tails. I have rods fasten...

Re: Are your martins in path of Polar Vortex?

Very concerned about the weather system about to hit southeastern Ohio. I have my two Amish built T14 houses up with 4 new Troyer gourds hanging below each house for a total of 36 nest cavities all ready. I have 8 to 12 adult birds using my original house that tends to fill up first. These birds are...

No birds as yet on the northwest side of Athens. Watching closely, working at chasing starlings and sparrows while I wait for my returns. Had a full house last year in my "5 Star" resort, so I added another one to give me plenty of room for expansion. It is very interesting that my birds have chosen...
