I would agree you'll have more success with larger inner holes, at least 3"

I took a Saber saw and cut the holes to around 3" and installed the tunnels on my gourds and it worked great, did not want martins to have to get nesting material through 2 different holes.

We are on the Ohio River between Parkersburg and Wheeling and are wondering where the nearest roost is to us. We have a late fledge (8/31) and as of tonight still have 3 Martins staying in our box. I would be interested in any information regarding roosts in Ohio/West Virginia. Welcome to the forum...

Visitor's this morning

So I walked out this morning and there they were 7 Martin's circling our houses. ...stayed for less than 5 min. and were gone. Still nice to see, curious if there is a roost somewhere in central Ohio.

Try the Troyer's T-14 you can raise and lower it very easily, Large nesting cavities, many great options, give him a call at link not allowed for a free catalog for all your Martin needs...Great setup.

Went from a Wannabe to a landlord this yr. 4 nesting pair with 5 eggs in each nest, yep its pretty exciting ...The key is no trees within sight from my Bird house from the picture you may have a tree to close to your house....
