Re: Help please: Desparate for Info about flying squirrels

I would try to do all of above methods first camera etc. Then if you know for sure it maybe just 1 squirrel. I killed a gray squirrel that was pulling of flowers. He was the only one.

Re: Great success finally!

Do you think it would be good to let tree swallows nest in single gourd instead of using regular bluebird box. T.s. could acclimate to all gourds?

Re: sub adult starling

the starlings weren't at the gourd rack. I caught these starlings in the minnow type s s trap. The newer gourds protect from starlings ,owls and hawks pretty well.

Re: sub adult starling

Thanks for the information Matt.I think I let 3 starlings go.There pretty when there young .My gourds are starling resistant.Im not too worried because these birds had long legs. Maybe smaller starling could get in these gourds.I wasn't going to kill bird I didn't know.

Re: Photos Of Rat Snake Catching Martin Fledgling High In Tree

Id hate to see martin taken by snake. I have some six footers around my house.I don't have martins here but I have them at a farm 1 mile up road.I put up snake netting to protect the martins. Im going to have fun getting live snake out of netting if one decides to climb pole.

I see 2 martin eggs hidden under nesting material. Last week the eggs were visible. Will martins hide eggs like this or was nest messed with by another bird?

house sparrows doing whats right for them

h.s. destroy other nesting birds so they can give themselves a better chance of producing more young. I don't like it. I wouldn't care as much for swallows and bluebirds if they did the same. Heck wolves ambush dogs trailing mountain lions. They take out the competition. It gives them more game to h...

Im building a blaine trap.I think I might wait till the young are born then put them in the blaine trap maybe the parents will go in the trap.Catch...

Ive been writing down arrival dates of b.s. since 1984 this is their latest arrival date of may 2nd. Like the martins they got hit by this bad weather.
