Good Luck. Square poles don't turn.

Re: Which gourd bundle for beginner?

I would recommend a small bundle of gourds on a pole that you can can easily lower. There is plenty of info on how to install the poles. As a Martin lover I have added over time. I think it would be best if you start small, learn to enjoy them, check nests, share your fun with others in the area and...

Seems like I'm on the wrong side of the sun. Won't I always be, since the bird will always be above and the sun is further away?

Re: Still Only 3 Pair

Mine are slowly trickling in near Kansas City. I had one then two then four then eight. No changes for about a week and yesterday I counted 17. So by last years totals I'm 1/2 way (I had 17 pairs last year). There's plenty of room with my new 27 nest super condo (homemade) but it's a wait and see ga...

Re: Missouri Landlords

Well Guess What?.. MY SCOUT IS BACK! Saw him yesterday after work. My crank up gourds (and all others) have been lowered so he just sat proudly on top of the pole. When I got a chance to confirm that it was a male martin, I went out and played the martin song off of my cell phone. I'm not sure who w...

Re: Missouri Landlords

I haven't seen any at my site yet. All of my houses are closed up. I don't normally get any until mid/late April. We've gone from strong south winds to strong north winds back to southern winds. I sort of expect earlier arrivals this year because of the mild winter but that was the case last year to...

Question for Nest Gurus

As I attempt to learn more, I'm wondering. Over the past several years I have always had SK or similar housing. We tipped them down in late Feb early March, cleaned them out entirely and tipped them back up at the first sighting of martins in our area or a guess that it's time if we happen to be lea...

Re: Looking for feed back

Although Im not from Wisc. My birds were late this year to West Central Missouri. It was a strange winter/early spring so I think there was some delay. I also think the delayed birds have a better chance since they may not have been exposed to the cold, tough feeding conditions that this year expose...
