Re: Project Martinwatch
Kyler I really enjoyed your article in the magazine. Thanks so much for writing and sending it. I think I can safely say that most all of us "adults" on the forum are endeared to both you and Marcus and love hearing what you have to say. It is so encouraging to watch the future of Purple Martins unf...

Fledgling HOSP
Someone posted about trapping fledgling sparrows with a feeder trap. I thought it was Kathy Freeze but was unable to locate the post. Anyway I read it and thought yeah that would be great but my Blaine has been out for weeks with no interest. However the fledgling Sp are flying into the windows and ...

I"m in Claremore area too. Would you mind contacting me by email? Would love to get acquainted.
We just need to pray for those PMs. So scary to be flying in around the planes.
Anita do you have any updates?

Checking in
Have not posted for long long time so I thought I'd catch everyone up on Okie's on again, off again, on again "colony". 2017 was very disappointing. ASY pair failed to get any other birds to stick to the site although they tried HARD. They half heartedly started nest building but abandoned and presu...

Re: After 12 days of looking she did it!
I feel your excitement. I saw my first PM this evening. One ASY male and one SY male chirping away. Why do these birds excite us so much? Because they are so, well Royal! They are the royalty among the bird population. Good luck this year and great job feeding. Wish me luck that some are attracted t...

Re: And the Battle Begins
Hi Okie! Glad your giving it another go this year! You can do it! Trap and trap is all you can do! I think in time you win! I don’t see any trash birds here! When I do see them I’m looking out the shop window and I can’t be fast enough any more! Their gone! They are scared of me! I like it that way...

Re: Heads Up Troyer Tunnel Trappers
Yeah Dan that happened to me with a NBT too only I did not get pecked. It was my own fault. I was trying to see if it was a male or female and kept turning the box until the shutter opened. It only takes a nano second for them to take advantage. I too felt rather stupid especially since I could have...

Re: Heads Up Troyer Tunnel Trappers
Thanks Dave I just noticed your bio. You are a wishn and a hopen too. I have only traps open right now as I'm not expecting any ASY but hoping for some SY in the gourd rack. The plan is for the gourd rack have SY and the Trio traps for the HOSP. Anyone know how to communicate that to the birds? Just...

Re: And the Battle Begins
Bird Brain I agree. It is so sad to see how many hang out inside the stores. Makes me want to cry. Flyin-lowe that is good info. Guess we never give up huh? Dan G Yeah I wonder if it really would make a dent in the population if more people were on duty. I've read they raise 3 to 4 clutches a season...

Heads Up Troyer Tunnel Trappers
Decided to start a new thread for this info. The trap was tripped so I lowered the gourd rack & enclosed the gourd in a plastic bag & unscrewed the lid. Nothing flew out so I peaked inside. Could not see anything so I found the wire & the rubber band was missing. Not wanting to leave it for a nestli...

And the Battle Begins
Set up the traps yesterday after watching a male sparrow hanging around the Trio. So far this year ie in 2 days; 2 male sparrows, 1 female sparrow, 1 starling. Hardly saw any this winter but the martin housing is definitely a lure during breeding season. Sure wish I had help in this area as I am sin...

Re: Lost a female inside an excluder II gourd.
Sorry I was off the forum last year after my pair abandoned my site and I got discouraged. Hoping to attract some SY this year. I'm in Verdigris just south of Claremore and north of Tulsa. I see this year you posted on the Watch and already have PM Congratulations. Hope you have a great & productiv...

. . . when you occasionally get excited by a new angle glimpse of one of your . . . decoys! (Aw c'mon, those rascals do look real.) Love this one. Yep your'e a PM nut alright. Funny how we get to the point [us wannabees that is] that we want to see a martin so bad that it's easy to envision a...
