Crushed oyster shells are very beneficial to Purple Martins, providing calcium for strong egg shells and for strong bones as nestlings grow. 

Have oyster shells available to the martins throughout the nesting season.  For safety from predators, feed oyster shells in an elevated feeder or tray.  These crushed shells are an ideal size for aduts and nestlings alike.
