Strange

Postby rrmartins » Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:40 am

Late yesterday evening, I had about twenty martins circling and singing. I’ve never seen this in late August, they’ve been gone from the roost for a month now. Not sure what those guys were doing. I live in central TX.

Lucky dog! We had one come by, think it was a young bird but iv taken everything down. Been staking out an area they roosted near here saw a bunch a few weeks ago, went sunday and saw 1.
Now im hoping for hummingbirds to come through in good numbers, they are few thus far. 1 Black chinned and 1 young ruby throat.

Same here, this time last year we had a dozen or so. Bird lovers here report the same thing very low numbers.

Iv looked at a few hummingbird websites but they arent as user friendly as ours to ask. Afraid i dont know, maybe the warm weather is keeping them north? Im going to the rockport hummingbird festival next month, will see what they all say.

Up here in SW ontario. Have numerous birds flying around and landing on setup hopefully i can get some of them next spring. As for hummingbirds we have a bumper crop of them here in LaSalle ontario. They swarm my garden and drink readily from my nectar feeders. All in all a good year just need the martins to stay next year (im pretty sure they will )
