Late nesting

Postby EGunterTX » Thu Jul 11, 2019 4:52 pm

I have a super gourd that had 6 young that fledged by about June 7. The nest was empty in a nest check on June 12. On June 20, it had 2 new eggs. On June 27, it had 4 eggs.
I figured the last egg was probably laid on about June 22. Therefore, by my math, I should have had babies on about July 8.

Nest check yesterday, July 10-- still 4 eggs.

Should I give up hope, or might they still hatch. I see 5-7 birds flying around the colony & some are going into nesting compartments still.

Thoughts? Thanks--

personally I would leave them. I had a nest once that had eggs for a long time and I was close to give up on them when they started hatching. Good luck.

Could you give us an update on those 4 eggs?
