I am going to use sevin in my martin compartments for the mites. My question is, is it ok to use the sevin in compartments where there are babies
Thank you
The general answer is yes. If you have some doubts about using it, some people like to gently lift the nests and put the sevin dust under the nest, while others shake the nest to get it fo fall to the bottom of the nest.
It surely doesn't take much, most people only use 1/4 teaspoon
Try to avoid putting it directly on the babies, it may get into their eyes. It really is not necessary to put it on the babies, as the sevin kills all the mites in a day or so if you put it under the nest
I have gourds and don't use the 5% sevin dust unless I have mites(once in 5 years). 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon in the entrance hole took them out in 1 day. No apparent ill-effect to they babies.
