After establishing a Purple Martin colony in two locations in Illinois, we’ve relocated to Sun City Center, FL. We did not get settled in and a house up until early March, 2021. Actually got one guy to stay for a while but never got a mate so he moved on.

This year we will be ready!!

Any of the trio housing are good quality. Look around your area and see what others are using, perhaps that will give you an idea but Florida is martin rich area. May be a combination of gourds and a house? shoot, martins will be returning there in a few short months! haha.
Key to combatting the heat is venting, and if you've gourds some shielding in addition to venting if its getting real hot, but where your located you should have the sea breeze coming off the gulf. Those 90 degree PVC elbows from lowes or home depot work wonders.
wish you luck next season,
Tom

google image in " 2-round-aluminum-louver-with-insect-screen-priced-per-bag-of-6" to see these louver vents. Use a 2 inch hole saw to make your holes in yhe side of the housing up high on the wall to allow air flow.
