FINALLY !!! They're here

Postby Conrad Baker » Tue Jan 28, 2020 8:29 pm

Finally got my first two Martins this evening, right at 5:00 PM. They landed on one of the houses (I have three), then flew off to return to another one of the houses. They continued flying around the site landing on the 3 houses. It got too dark to see if they entered any of the houses, but I'll be looking for them at sunrise tomorrow morning. Finally a start to the Martin Season. Good Luck everyone !!

That's great!! I saw two this morning around 8:45. They circled. They sang. I think they are mine.

Thanks for sharing. Good luck to you, too!

Martin Colony History: Second year trying to attract martins. This year I am getting rid of the wooden house and showing something they are used to seeing.
Offering 2 trio grandpaws w/2natural gourds under each and C.Abare gourd rack w/16 natural gourds. And one rehabbed 16 compartment Coates original with two natural gourds.Lots of lookers,a few overnighters and daily activity cruising and looking. All gourds have a rain canopy and wire perch.2019 7 pair moving into 2020 almost double pairs from 2019. Still have most of the month of March to go for new arrivals and April.

Good to hear Conrad and Brent! That’s all new news. I had one on the house at the feed store, not sure if he stayed. All this rain is killing me.
