I finally got to see one of two active colonies on Salt Spring Island. I contacted Cam Finlay and he gave me Bruce Cousins phone number. This colony is in Fulford Harbor in south Salt Spring Island. It had one pair of SY birds nesting as far as I could tell. There is a second colony of 3 or 4 pair at Bold Bluff on the southwest side of the Island as well. I did not get a chance to visit the second site this trip. But I plan to next time. My pictures are in wrong file size for this forum but can be viewed on the clubhouse forum.
Bob Buskas, Alberta, Canada (The Northern Sky's Colony) Supplimental feeding is the key during bad weather, but you must train them to feed ahead of time.
