You know me either, she indicated she would watch the posts last year and it seemed she had her hands full with martins. Good question, she was devoted. Lots of years waiting and she finally got martins, hope she comes back some have gone to Facebook martin site.

..

Dennis... She’s doing great, her colony has grown a lot.. I did see notes from her from time to time... She has had a very bad year with “Buffalo Gants”. I think she has lost a few babies (around 20) to the flys but still has quite a few hatchlings that will make it ok.. I think she will be over 100 fledgling this year.. She was lowering and raising her housing all most every other day to spray the houses and gourds for flys.. She is a great landlord, she will back on line soon..

Dave.

Martin Colony History: Started trying to attract purple martins in 2012! It's finally happened in 2017! 5 years!!! ASY male and SY female came May 1st, fledged 5 babies!

Good morning all.. I was told someone was wondering where I was.. I’m still around.. Yes I’ve been on FB posting on several martins pages. It’s more the going thing and so much user friendly.. so sorry I haven’t been posting.. My martins colony has grown to 53 pair in 3 years.. its amazing what openness does.. I had 1 pair fledged 5 babies the first year....farmer took large tree line down that winter ... then 21 pair came fledged 96 babies... offered 66 cavities this year and 53 pair came and laid 281 eggs... I did have a bad buffalo gnat problem like Dave Reynolds had said.. they were horrible.. no soaked cotton balls with vanilla or absorbine jr. did anything to these mean sonsxxxxxx...I went through 2 1/2 bottles of horse spray... the heat index is 100*. + right now... that’s putting them in their place... I should still be well over 200 fledged.. I’m sure what I did helped... The last 2 weeks I’ve been pulling housing down everyday spraying... sometimes twice a day.. but when I go out in the mornings with my cup of coffe it’s well worth it.. oh and by the way that’s where I need to be right now.. Have a great day and will try to post every now and again.. this is where I started and I love this little forum.. I sure wouldn’t have the guts to pull housing down with 30 day old babies if it wasn’t for the knowledge I’ve learnt here! Thank you for thinking of me.

Nice to here from you!! Glad you have a ton of martins, lord knows you deserve them after your yrs of patiences, wishing u a great finish to your yr. Your comment about opening thing's up can't be underestimated as it has to be the number 1 determining factor in people not attracting martins.

I also enjoy the facebook side of things a litle better as its easer to post pics etc....
