Hey guys and gals. Does anyone know anything about the new item offered by S&K called the BO-STACKER? It allows the BO 9 to be stacked on top of the Bo 11 to make a double cavity for two different martin families. It's under new items on the s&k site. I bought 4 and will be trying them out soon.

18 pair in 2017.

Make sure your rack and arms can handle the weight.

Yes your right and that is why I only got 4. I'll put them on the bottom level an let em hang through January and see how they do before the birds arrive. I just hope the Stacker thing will be secure and has addressed the drainage situation.

Not yet I haven't received my order from S&K yet but I'll try to post some when I get them connected so everyone can see. I'm also working on a new rack to handle the extra weight. It's a beefed up version of a rack I bought from Chuck Abare. I blessed to live close enough to have Chuck as my mentor.

Thanks James, I've seen a Super Site with LOTS of sets of Gourds stacked one on top of each other ( :???: wonder if they do "Runt rescue', transfer the runt to another nest with ones the same size, or just let the numbers rule ) it will be interesting to see what a company "Stacker ' looks like !

Yes they have not posted a picture yet but I will try to post one when I get my order. I got the first part of my order yesterday but the stackers are in the next shipment. I called and they said it would be a couple more days.

18 pair in 2017.

You'll need to host the pictures on some online service (photobucket no longer provides the service for free) and use their link.
You can't just upload from your computer to this forum. Unless something has changed.

Martin Colony History: 2018 will be my first try. 6 S&K B09s. 29 eggs - 8 fledged
2019 - 12 Troyer Horizontals with tunnels, 6 S&K B09s and 12 B011s all with tunnels. 43 eggs - 36 fledged
2020 - Rack 1 - 6 B011s, Rack 2 - 24 B011s, and Rack 3 - 24 Troyer Horizontals. All gourds have tunnels, porches and crescent/Conley 11 entrances; racks have predator guards. 161 eggs - 88 fledged

Pretty cool idea. I just wonder about how this arrangement may impact cooling of the lower gourd. Maybe not a concern of you northern landlords but we southerners think about this issue. Was 82 degrees here today in Palm City, FL. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Two seasons in south Florida; warm (winter) and hot (summer).

Martin Colony History: Colony established May 20, 2017 after three unsuccessful years. Persistent and aggressive Tree Swallows plagued the site, but beyond learning - and practicing - to control them, was the return in 2017 of a 2016-SY-M previously unable to find a mate. As a handsome ASY-M, he brought along two females and a swagger that soon put the Tree Swallow issue to rest. As the anchor pair, he and his mate hatched all six of their eggs into fat and healthy babies into what settled in to be a three-pair, flourishing new colony with up to 11 birds total, including 3 SY-M trouble makers.
