I know this is a Purple Martin forum, however I just wanted to share a picture of our baby Bluebirds that were in our Bluebird house and have already left their nest. Momma and Papa did a great job! Looking forward to their next nesting.
Location: Pennsylvania/Espyville/Pymatuning Reservoir Area
Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of. In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.
Nice to see the little guys are starting to get their beautiful blue feathers in your photo. Looks like you have a great setup and have spoiled your birds feeding them mealworms. Very nice.
This morning I saw the male Bluebird still feeding a baby Bluebird on the Purple Martin Perches. I wished I had a picture of that! I have read to keep the feeders filled even after they have left the nest with the treats because that's how the parents teach the babies how to feed on their own. Plus I want them to hang around also!
This couple could not wait for me to put up their home that when I left the post digger in the ground to get the pole Daddy was staking his claim already. Momma was in the back tapping her feet!
Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied. Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

Thanks for the posts. We have 4 bluebird houses in addition to our purple martin house. Each year if we are lucky we get one nesting pair and a successful fledge. Have not seen any bluebirds yet. Like how you offered the mealworms right on the house. Cecile
Those are great photos in really good color. Im glad I am not the only one that loves blue birds. it appears our first 5 youngsters fledged last Friday(most likely)on 04/18/14.
