Congrats Tony, I wouldn't have made it as long as you. I checked my nest today and had 5 eggs in 1 and 1 in another so we're both happy. I live in the northeast corner of Fayette near walker county line and if you're ever in my neck of the woods look me up. I bet your birds can't look out without seeing your smiling face! Good luck this year. Hubert

Hey Chuck!
Im right behind you and Tony.Iv got my first nesting pair this year.Yhey bunk bup but no nest building as of yet.The asy male nested with an sy female last year but the five eggs were not viable, but he came back and this year he has an asy female by his side so i dont think it will be too long. Its a pretty good feeling to finally have all your hard work start paying off isnt it?

You'll never catch me! I've been feeding mine laying mash!
I know the wondering feeling, but I'm enjoying this. (worrying also)
Congrats to you both. Hope we all get a nest full!

Yeah, this is a very anxiety causing time. First I worried about them liking my housing. Now I'm worried about the nest and eggs. Last afternoon/evening we had some rough weather, with severe t-storms and hail. I kept looking outside to make sure the housing was OK. It was thank goodness. After the storms passed they both popped out of their gourd and flew off for an evening snack. They were perfectly fine.Gobbler T wrote:You'll never catch me! I've been feeding mine laying mash!![]()

- Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of.
In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.
Congratulations Tony,
I am real happy for you! Pulling in martins for the first time is a real success story.
Hope you are able to get several more pair before this spring is over.

Thank you,
I'm hoping for more. I've got a SY male hanging around every day so we'll see.
Chuck, I may have bragged too soon. Look's like 5 is the magic #. She started to set yesterday, so you'll have to tell your's to slow down now.
