Do sub adults take longer to start building nests than adults or those birds returning to a nest?

I've got my first pair that have been staying at night and using one of my gourds for a week now but I haven't seen any nest building yet.

Thanks all!

Sub adults are later returning than asy birds and are later nesting for that reason. They don't "pair up" as long as the asy birds because of their late return but I would not be concerned about not nesting after a week.

In my experience the SY's will start nest quicker then ASY's. However it could still be several weeks after they arrived. I would say after another week or two you will see some nesting material comIsn't in.
