Thanks guys. I know they are pretty small and I’m all about large compartments. But I already had these Gourds so I decided I would at least try them.

Dave,
I can’t think on the top of my head. But I’m having to buy more this weekend. Because I have to make about 20 more so I will post pictures. I will get the size for you.

Dave,
Sorry about not getting to them this weekend. I’m working on a couple right now. The clip size is 3/32 x 1-5/8 but the shaft size is 1/4 - 1/2 and I use the 3/8 inch dowel rod. I’m still going post pictures after there all done.

Nice work so far! Two other considerations:

1. Water may leak from the hanging holes down into the nest. You might want to drill out the hanging hole and replace it with a small section of PVC pipe to waterproof it.
2. The walls of that gourd may be translucent, and so the nest chamber may get very hot. If it is translucent, consider painting the walls to help make it more opaque and cooler in the summer.

Good luck!

Courtney,
Thanks for your suggestions! One thing I did want to tell you is that the hanging holes are not open to inside the Gourd. Its just a hole so no water will be able to get it. Next yes thanks for telling me to paint them. I was going to but I haven’t got to it.

Dave,
No problem.
