Not sure.. Nor familiar w/ K24

If it's sold through the website store, it's probably very good.

I like the buckets you used for critter control. Nice looking setup.

I've got a BB male trying to get a female to move in right now. Fun to watch the ritual.

Looks great David! I noticed you added the S&K cooling caps to your Big Bo gourds. Would love to know more about that mod. Pretty easy... Cut off about an inch of the gourd, drill a hole big enough to match the cap hole.. And done. :) Yeah, and I'm missing two gourds. I gave two to a friend who was...

Put the pole up yesterday.. Everything looks good.
The new location is much better than at our previous home. Love the power lines behind us.

I figured it would be ok. Don't think squirrels will be a problem because the nearest trees are across a field behind my house.

None of the neighbors have trees in their backyards, so I'm happy about that.

My cement is cured enough now, and the pole goes up today. :)

gourd rack location near wooden fence

I ended up I installing my AAA gourd rack in the corner of my back yard and cemented the ground sleeve to where when the rack is lowered the end of the arms are a couple feet away from the fence. So basically the pole is about 6 ft from the fence. This should be ok I hope. I know that the pole shoul...

Yeah, it's funny how close you can get to a pet. I'd never had pets before, and they end up being like your kids. Same thing with martins and blue birds. I'd never before tended to them so closely, and I'm amazed how upset and stressed I would get to find a dead martin, or an abandoned nest after a ...

installing my AAA 16 in a new place

I moved from Slidell La to Broussard La over the summer, which works out well. My new home has no trees nearby, Lots of powerlines behind my house, and three ponds around me. Nearest trees are a treeline about 300 feet behind me, behind the powerlines. My backyard is smaller so my pole will be about...

The daytime chatter CD works well.

Keep the speakers away from a window. Mine are under the gourd rack. They will fly to the speakers. I had one fly into my rear window last week as he flew towards the sound. Amazing how they are drawn to the sounds. Luckily he wasn't hurt.

Dsonway, I been wondering how your colony has been doing. Good to see the video and you have a returnee. Sorry to hear about last year. How many pair did you have? I had a bad year with all the rain. Babies getting cold and some died. But still fledged around 250 Had 68 pair. Hope I have less rain ...

2014 slowly startin for me (VIDEO)

I had my daytime chatter going (speaker right outside my back window) when a male ASY thumped into the window while investigating the chatter. He then flew around the rack and landed. I then decided to not chance a serious injury and moved the CD player to the ground under the gourd rack. http://you...

I always report when I see one. Because I have heard they sometimes come during the day but still go rooste in near buy Martin rooste. And maybe won't stay till more martins get to the site or closer to nest time. So I think it's just to let people know when spotted in your state? I do the same thi...

My only experience is with S&K gourds. The Big Bo gourds are excellent. I added tunnels and did the cooling caps on them. The caps are screw on. The Bo-9 are well made, but I'm not crazy about the snap on lids. Make sure you hear a snap when putting them on. Mine are tunneled with cooling caps The b...

I've had very good results with glue traps. I insert the trap in a HS nest and within minutes I will get one, sometimes both. I usually resort to glue traps if I'm having a tough time getting a clean shot with my pellet rifle. Using a glue trap in an active HS nest pretty much assures I won't get a ...

2014 season underway

My mentor a couple miles away has had Martins begin to arrive a couple days ago. I've been offshore for a week and I hope to see my arrivals upon my return. We usually have our returns within days of each other. I may miss the actual arrivals this year, but I'm sure I'll have some squawking in the b...
