Is it too late?

I seem to have a couple of new pairs that are just building nests. Is it possible that they could still lay some eggs this late in the season? I've already had some fledge.

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I just became a member of the forum a few days ago and it has already helped me a lot to have fellow enthusiasts to talk to. I feel better already! :v)) I've already purchased an air rifle with a scope to control my starling population. Now, if I could just hit o...

I hope you're right about them coming back next year. I guess I'm just discouraged because I did a lot of maintenance to my houses in the wintertime, including putting insulation in the roof and misters after the brutal Summer we had last year did all my babies in. Bought new doors and flooring, num...

Thanks for your input Emil. I can't take any of my houses down right now because each of them have either nests or eggs in them. (at least they did as of yesterday evening). I actually have a lot of trees on my property, but they are not close enough to any of the houses for something to crawl into ...

They are the usual 6x6 compartments. Round holes, because like I said, the nest was built up too high to install a starling resistant door. The compartment with the 5 eggs DOES have a SREH door after the previous nest in that compartment was destroyed along with all the eggs. Another pair moved in, ...

Can someone please tell me what is happening?!?

Had a nest with two babies in it that were about a week old. Nest was built up high in the entrance, so could not put on a starling resistant door because Momma wouldn't be able to get in if I did. Noticed this evening that Momma and Daddy were not coming to the house. I just checked and the nest wa...

RR martins, I know what you mean. I'm just down the highway from you in Pflugerville. Have some that should fledge today or tomorrow AND new eggs still showing up. The brutal heat and drought last summer made me lose every baby Martin I had. Hopefully this summer won't be as bad. But it's pretty dar...

Porch dividers

Im afraid it's too late to remove them then. They were born April 30th, so that makes them 23 days old. Will they just fly and come back to the same compartment? This is only my third year as a landlord. The first year I didn't know much of anything except that I loved to watch them soar and hear th...

Porch dividers

I have put porch dividers on all my houses this year for the first time. I have 6 babies in one compartment that will fledge in the next day or two. Should I remove the porch dividers so there will be room for all of them on the porch? The other two compartments on that level are uninhabited. Or, sh...
