Tony, So glad for your successful year. All mine have fledged too. So quiet around here now. I find myself going outside just looking to see if any will come by. This morning some did when I went out and stood by the house. A new ASY male even landed on the house today. The only birds I see are the ...

Tony, Things are well here. I have 4 pairs and had a single SY male that stayed around for a month and a half. I don't think he's sleeping in his compartment anymore because sparrows started to build a nest in it. I pulled it, but since then he hasn't spent the night anymore. He's very gentle too. N...

Gazebo Phil's site

I have been watching Gazebo Phil's live nest cams, but today I can't pull it up any more. Headline states we've moved, but can't get video up.
Any suggestions ?

Matt, Thank you so much for providing this fotage for the rest of us to see. It is priceless. Sorry about the sparrow. I know first hand the damage they can do. Experienced that last year. And just like you said, they are not trying to nest in the houses. I have a single SY that has been staying in ...

Question about Project Martinwatch

I would like to participate in PMW because there is hardly any one from Louisiana that does. I really don't want to pull the houses down when young are more than 21 days old though. Would this disqualify me from participation ? I know about plugging the holes, but I'm worried that they might fly out...

Idybala If you are sure it is one female, then I would move the eggs to one compartment and close the other one up for a day or two. Same thing happened to me this year and in 2012. I notice my males claim 2 compartments and I think sometimes the female just gets confused. In 2012, I only had 1 pair...

I think what Jr-2 is asking is, since he has a house in the front and one in the back, could some of the fledged from last year use the other house, thinking it was a different site since they are seperate from each other.(I know the 1% will return to the house they fledged from)

Don,
Forgot to mention, I use nest trays inside the trendsetter and I put traction tape on the trays where the tray lines up with the opening so they have traction coming and going.

Don My birds struggled with the crescent entrances last year too. I have a Heritage Farm house and the porch is beaded, as well as the inside of the entrance. I had to change to crescent openings mid season last year due to a starling. I sanded the openings ever so slightly because they were not abl...

When I got my trendsetter, the wing guards were on the inside of the compartment, not the outside. I see yours are on the outside. Does it make a difference ?

House finches. Will they cause problems ?

I have a pair of house finches that don't seem to be intimidated by my one pair so far of PM. They are constantly on the house. When ever my PM land on the house, they are on the house too. My male Pete dive bombed them today and they didn't flinch. The female had nest material today. I pulled the h...

Steve,
I'm with Connie. I'm not getting any sun shine here either.
I've kept my crickets for 2 years. I tripple bag them in freezer bags, and I used the ones I bought in 2012 last year.
