I had about 10 to 12 martins on my house yesterday and had 2 on it today so they are still around. Haven't seen an adult in about 3 or 4 weeks.

Yay Sharon! We were on the river a couple days ago and all the martins I saw were hanging around those plastic red barn houses. Maybe I should get one... I'm also happy to report the martin family has been back visiting the past couple of days. They were here again this morning landing on the...

Suem.. I am also in the country so I set a few sparrow traps and shoot them. I use the swimming pool noodles to plug most of the holes and then put traps in the rest. The pmca has a great selection of traps you could use. I trapped only 4 sparrows this year but shot 34 starlings in the early spring....

Too funny! But I feel for ya Terry. The waiting part is no fun. I've seen houses covered in trees and tilting over full of martins. It seems like all the active colonies around me are tree encroached...maybe I should move mine in the trees. (not!) Annie

I'm glad to hear things are going well for you Dave. I know I still have acouple sub adults coming and getting egg shells and flying off with them so I'm guessing they are still feeding young in the nest. (But not at my site)
Best wishes to you and your babies! Annie

Sharon... Thanks and it sounds like next year will be your year with all the activity you had this summer. Maybe we both will get lucky and become landlords in 2015.. The family sure seemed to like it here especially to stick around so long. I've had other families visit in the past but none ever st...

Thanks Bill.. Today was the first day they have not been here. :-( I knew this day would come but still bums me out a little. Yesterday they spent most of the day out flying and when they did come in the parents sat around with them not feeding. I guess they have learned to eat on their own. I hope ...

A wonderful surprise!

For the last week a subadult pair has kept their 5 fledglings at my site. They spend the entire day here! They spend time on my trendsetter and MSS 12 trio. It has been so exciting to have them here. They also have brought a lot of attention from other martins in the area. This have never happened h...
