Great job,Tim!!  I am sure they were all to happy to get a free and needed meal. Like you, I don't ever want to lose any martins if there is anything I can do about it. I waited long enough to get them that I don't want to be in that boat again. My 2,000 crickets arrived yesterday and I...

Hi Judy, Sounds like exciting times are around the corner for you!!! I would suggest that you buy the best quality you can afford. You will most likely not want to give this hobby up anytime soon and if you buy a good rack from the get-go, you won't have to replace it. The martins are getting...

John and Astrid, Let me just say that I truly appreciate the effort you put forth and continue to put forth to *help along* those martins that are arriving at your colonies on their way to their home colonies. What a stressful time the weather can be! Knowing that there are landlords like you who ar...

Ken, assuming that the ingredients in the warmers that Linda is using are comparable to some that I have.....................mine say the ingredients are all natural and non-toxic. They are iron, water, cellulose, vermiculite, activated carbon, and salt. Since she puts a light layer of pine needles ...

Hi Frankie, I had a feeling you were at least in the south somewhere. We could draw a diagonal line to eachother probably!! Glad to hear you think the population is strong there. I hope you do get them right away, but if you don't, keep trying and never give up...............they will come!! Four ye...

Hi Frankie :) , First, let me say that I sincerely hope you get martins in 2008. After having had some it would be sad to have to go without them. :-( John is correct, I got many pairs last season (14). It was my first year to host them but it took 4 years trying before that. I am not sure where you...

Thanks, Bill :) , I am looking forward to seeing what 2008 brings. I waited 4 years to get a colony going and then boom, in one season I got enough pairs that I couldn't have hoped to get in 3 years. That made everything more worth it and I wasn't even expecting those numbers. I will have 40 units a...

Hi Tim  .....(big cyberspace waves), I am really looking forward to seeing the martins return. Had I only had a few pair I think I would be on pins and needles next Spring. With having had 14 pair I feel pretty confident that I will get some back. I already know my Alpha male will not return a...

Sounds like you have made some *attractive* improvements to your yard, James. Your martins will surely like it and you may have to put up more gourds in 2009 because you fill up this coming season. Your wait is much shorter and I can't wait to hear your *good news* of their arrival! :g...

From now on it is days for me. So, instead of 5 months it is approximately 150 days. What a ni...

Martins less than two months away...Yippie!

Wow, I can hardly believe that some fortunate people in the south are going to be able to report martins in less than two months. I get so excited when this begins even though I will have a much longer wait until they actually make it to my place. This will be an exciting Spring for me as it ...

The Barnies are still here also. I saw a **bunch** of swallows today.................I did see Barnies, but I think this may have been a mixture of all kinds of swallows. I still see Barnies in late Sept. and early Oct. during my favorite time to fish!!!
