Pellet guns...What do you own or recommend?

Looking to buy a pellet gun to help with pests around the property. I’ve had Daisy and Crossman in my younger days, but I know there are several different options out there now. What do you guys like to shoot?

Re: Adding perches to your Trio

I'd go ahead and put it up high. You never know when the early birds will show up. I have my gourds up, open, pre nested, and vacancy sign on. I don't worry a lot about sparrows and starlings. For some reason I have not seen a house sparrow since I've lived here and I see only one or two starlings ...

Re: Adding perches to your Trio

Nice job Whip. I’m starting to notice more and more housing around my neighborhood. Several similar to what you are working on. Glad you mentioned that. As we grew up in this area I recall now that every Martin house I ever saw in this area was a Trio type house. My desire to go to gourds was perso...

Re: New to Martins and Forum....

T- When I first started talking about putting a Martin house, yours is what my wife had in mind she would see when I finally pulled the trigger. After much, much research and personal preference, I decided to go the gourd route. When she got home from work and looked out the back window I thought s...

Re: Abandoned (by homeowners) Martin house across the alley

Here is the photo of my gourd rack all set up and ready to go. I'll probably add 4 or 6 more Troyer Horizontal gourds. Still debating. Three of the 4 I have now were used last year and I found one egg in the fourth one. Seems the egg was laid but the gourd was never used. I never saw Martins active...

Re: Nice Trendsetter 12!!

T-Bird, That is a great looking Trendsetter 12. Great picture of your Mother with the Trendsetter 12. I hope your Mother gets to enjoy 3-4 pairs of martins this season. No promises but that would get both of you hooked on purple martins! 4Gen, We are both very excited. I can’t believe it’s finally ...

Thanks Brother!

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about my mature trees at the back of my property. I hope these purple beauties can find me, and will like my spot for them.

Re: Abandoned (by homeowners) Martin house across the alley

Yep. I went to WT White in the 80's. Graduated in 83. Sent you an e-mail with the location of the pine needles. Coolwhips. I received your email. Thank you! I was actually about 2 minutes from there last night. I was over in the Lewisville area last night watching the National Championship game at ...

Re: Abandoned (by homeowners) Martin house across the alley

T- I'm Plano. My birds arrive every March however there are others that arrive in February. Every now and then there will be a report of one arriving in January. Every year is different. I always remind myself by visiting the research tab at the top then selecting scout report. You can actually loo...

Re: Trio Martin House Poles

Be aware that the Trio poles are heavy gauge steel with a thick zinc coating that lasts a long time. The proof is how good the poles look after all these years of outside exposure. When heating up the poles to separate them try not to burn off or melt the zinc coating. The original poles are not th...

Re: Abandoned (by homeowners) Martin house across the alley

Nice house! Glad you are moving it. Thanks, T. I plan on moving it tomorrow after the Jedi's make their recommendations. It's in real good shape and, from what I can see so far, the compartments appear to have already been enlarged. I'll be able to know more about it once I get it into my shop. I m...

"Finally got the ground stake in the ground! My old back is aching!" T-Bird, The ground stake looks great! Good job! Re: New to Martins and Forum....

... I just used a sawhorse... and C-Clamp... Once the hole was dug and clear of all dirt.. I straddled the hole with a sawhorse and clamped the 3" by 3" ground stack to the sawhorse, while the ground stake hung from the sawhorse, I could adjust the sawhorse in any direction, to keep the ground stak...
