Re: Finally Decided To Smear Mud At Entrances (Pics)

Looks like a good job! most will wash off with the rain but its got the look, enough will stick. isn't it funny, we'll paint, adjust to perfection, adjust again and again and when everything ready 3 months in advance...smear mud. Funny mud story...I like looking for indian artifacts, haunt shell mid...

Re: Worried PM Landlord

I think you will be fine, watch in the evening. Last night was miserable, cold. I wanted to watch the birds return to look them over for stress...they normally come in at 6. Two came down around 515, didnt see or hear them. Only their singing in the house gave them away. Other 2 came in as normal, h...

Re: Worried PM Landlord

Id put the pine straw in now, better in a cavity than in the garage lol. if you havnt already done so id also smear a little mud at the entrances to make it look used and a bit more appealing. To a martin.

Re: Worried PM Landlord

Dont worry, keep an eye out. Its early yet! Do you have round or starling resistant openings? This season our arrivals were about 10 days early. Had put everything up but like you plugged entrances for the exact same reason. Anyway, just as soon as i got home from work i unplugged everything, and ab...

Re: Achieving landlord success

For me it was a combination of two big things. location: too close to a neighbors tree. Moved it to the other side of the yard with open flyways and got lucky. Cavity size: It had the 6x6 rooms first year. visitors that came in took one look and left. changed the house from 12 compartments to 6, ven...

Re: Guns N' Roses Cold November Rain in February! Yuk

Terry, sharon, Sorry for the delayed response, wont repeat the admin suggestions...sounds solid. One suggestion from mr barrow on the topic was to add live meal worms mixed with thawed crickets to the tray so they see the movement and get drawn in. Additionally, the height of activity and thus train...

I dont know sharon! Its mr barrows colony...good question. I can ask him. I flicked and flicked, when i went through the first batch and the others ended up on the neighbors bbq pit i stopped.
Once one learns the others follow seems like.

Re: Guns N' Roses Cold November Rain in February! Yuk

Me too, rough on the birds. Been a rain like mist and in the 50s here...one lone male braved it looking for food. Took the opportunity to put crickets on the porches for them yesterday though. Quite a few do feed the birds by flicking crickets, meal worms or egg just takes a bit for them to catch on...

Tom,
Congrats! Good feeling to be out there when they arrive. Especially so when doing work on their homes and they zip right in. Those winds were blowing hard definitely in their favor, glad he made it safe
Hope your season is a good one,
