Re: Small starlings

I would check with your local authorities because most city don’t Consider BB gin as a lethal fire arm. And it is fun practice shooting those starlings

Re: Mirrors being used,

That is correct dean just place the mirrors to the back of the cavities so you can look in from the entrance and see yourself. The Martin will see him or herself and will believe that there are other martins in the gourd. Making the Martin feel that it is safe to nest there. Good luck Steve.

Re: Martins feeding

Ya that’s what they’re feeding on I just looked it up I never knew what they were called. They’re not going to starve to death because there’s an over abundance of them around my house and in the fields near by.

Martins feeding

Hi everyone I’ve noticed this morning my martins are doing something I’ve never seen them do before they’re feeding on insects about a foot off the ground. The insect looks like a very large mosquito not sure what it is but they have been feeding on them all morning they drop down from the gourd rac...

Re: Are most landlords #s low

Thanks guys for the up dates. I hope that a few more adults move in before the subadults get here just so they can get a gourd picked out. In 2018 I had one nesting pair and a single adult male that never paired up. Last year I went to 10 pairs. I was really hoping for a good increase like last year...

Re: Are most landlords #s low

Thanks everyone for your replies. It kinda looks like a mixed bag of answer some have more some less. Maybe with this warmer weather and a few sunny days ahead they will start moving into my neck of the woods more. I did see a couple Subadults reported on the migration map today in Tennessee so that...

Are most landlords #s low

Are a lot of landlords reporting lower numbers of matins so far this year? My binders are still a bit low from this time last year maybe there just a little slower getting here this year not sure just wondering if it’s the same for most landlords or not. Have a good season all and god bless.

Re: Newbie – – with new house seeking advice.

hey Robertflip its hard to tell from the pictures you posted but I would say you should move the house to the most open area in you yard. The martins needs to be as far from any trees as you can get it. and if you can put it close to your home 30 to 50 feet seems to be good. these birds love to be c...

Re: A little worried

Hey Buckdog I believe you still have a chance at the adult ASY birds. I live in east TN area just north of Knoxville and I have had only one pair for just over a week and then yesterday I had 4 or 5 new adult pairs just show up all in one big group. Not sure if there my returning birds from last yea...

Good luck Randy I hope stays and gets a lady friend. It’s funny how when you get one to finally stay they do all the work for you in drawing other birds in even better than the Dawn Song. Have a great season.

Where are all the adult birds.

I had 10 pair last year and at least 5 pair were adult birds. I have 1 adult male. Shouldn’t all of the adult birds from last year that fledged young be back by now. Or do they not return to the same site.

Re: Finally

Thanks everyone I was starting to get worried about them with everyone getting them so much earlier this year. But as of now I have one pair and I don’t want to sound greedy but keep them coming. I just put up 4 new gourd racks today that hold 32 gourds on each of them. So I hope they all fill up ov...

Re: round hole to clinger mod

Hey SSMartin you can buy the bags of plastic push pins to marry the two pieces together. The pins after you pre drill and line them up and push them in are not sharp so they shouldn’t hurt the birds. I would try to do it about mid day 12 to 1 and do it as quickly and safely as you can. I don’t know ...
