"just purchased a Hammerli 850 Airmagnum" Ok, you've got air gun capable of hitting sparrows in the eye at 15 yards. No reason why you can't get confident enough to get rid of the sparrows. Did you get the scope with it? The Co2 850 has no recoil like spring gun so they are snap to get on target it ...

Yes, can shoot with the best of them. About 200 quality shots off 88 gram Co2 bottle.. Bottles cost about 8 to 10 bucks piece depe...

I didn't know bo 9s had snap on lids. No threads right??? if your gourd adapter is not threaded the metal libs won't do no good. The metal libs work on Bovillas and double gourds with the 4" access adapter threaded opening... glad you got it figured out...Rc.

You can get metal lids, I done this few years ago and posted the information where to get them and the price. I had hail storm and hail went right through my s & K gourd libs especially after couple seasons they get weather from the sun, crack and break easily... don't have the information at hand b...

had lots of pictures, I posted them here before, but my old computer crashed and lost most of them. Only ones I have are when they are hanging in storage in my shed. I also have picture of three different tunnels I experiment with. I didn't like the large ones and the PM didn't like the smallest one...

I have double gourds also. IMO the best gourd for protection when modified. I put wood blocker at the back of the first square gourd. I use 3 by 4 " drain pipe adapters for tunnel with the rectangular side out. place my cut to fit sreh inside. This has several advanages IMO one the small tunnel don'...

PM's won't run them off. they can't they don't have the tools. two or three may mob starling and initially you might think they ran it off, but if he want's that cavity he will take it.. Some starlings can get through srehs.. Trapping them out is your only choice IMO at your location. Sooner the be...

Are you sure it's PMs that killed did you witness it??? I have never seen PMs kill other PMs at my site.. IMO they don't have the tools to kill, soft beaks, weak legs, but strong wing muscles. If these birds had wounds and blooded I would suspect starling.. Maybe I'm wrong. It has always been starli...

Only thing I can add if you find them on the ground to weak to fly might try putting them into cardboard box with roost stick across few inches off the bottom, bring them in where it warm, put towel over the top and put crickets, scrambled eggs or meal worm in the box... I did this few years ago wit...

I have wide base at the bottom, use casing 6" PVC up 2 foot then wide base at the top. Usually this only take 1 or two bags. I have even dug up my bases and moved them without breaking off the concrete. Just made sure I packed the dirt around the base good. For my T-14 (which very heavy) base I made...

" placed my houses so I could see both sides from my window" IMO DornCounty nailed it. As he said you need to see down both sides to spot trouble. This also gives you prime shooting without punching holes in the housing when picking off starlings and sparrows. Yes you will have sparrow problems and ...

IMO PM are lazy and fickle. IMO Leaving up round holes the new recruits will use the easiest to enter. I have to wonder anywhere in Florida where there are no starlings. IMO leaving round holes up invites trouble. IMO the Excluder II are the most restrictive and best sreh of the choices posted. Do a...

So sorry to hear that, but I was afraid that was going to happen. The 3/4" don't allow them to rotate their breast bone IMO. Where on thin piece of metal they can rotate they breast bone and enter. IMO Sides don't matter just the bottom and maybe the top of the 3/4" wood needs to be tapered. I when ...

I have found in the pass crescents cut into 3/4" thick wood may have to be tappered on the back side of the entry. If the crescents (half moon srehs) are exactly to spec. then it may be problem. Do to the thickness may require them to be little bigger or tappered. I would tapper and not make them bi...

I agree the excluder II IMO are the best factory brought Sreh and I don't remember if any has been breeched by starlings? If so it is rare Excluder and Excluder II IMO are about 98% effective even though the orginal excluder has a lot of wasted space which IMO why the excluder II came about. I'll le...
