tree swallows

7/8 inch by 2 1/4 inch entrance hole for tree swallows will keep out house sparrows much like the sreh for martins.the only thing is b.b. can't get in. I have 2 b.b. boxes with in 25 ft. of my Martin pole.I think both boxes would have to be hsreh. The tree swallow wouldn't nest within 15 ft. of each...

Re: year end report

I had 13 fledge at home. This was first year after trying to get martins for 29 years. I got martins about a mile up the road in 2015. They have a pond on there farm. I think that helped. We don't have a pond here. The overflow seemed to come here because I didn't increase very fast up the road. The...

Re: South Central PA

Don't give up it sounds like your starting out in a better area than I was. We have a lot of amish that moved onto farms in our area. They seem to be big on ...

I put tunnels on super gourds. Has anybody experienced exit difficulties for the young ? They have a high slippery wall. I was going to use these gourds next year.

This puts the small hole close to the side of the cage wall. Does anybody know the best location to put the small ...

house sparrows

best way too to discourage h.s. so they don't take out their revenge on b.b. t.s. and martins. I tore down h.s. nest that they built in barn swallow nest.It had eggs in it. Putting pin holes in eggs and replacing there eggs with old eggs probably could help. I don't know of any other options. There g...

Re: What's your Starling and Sparrow situation this year?

Any suggestion for trapping in barn? I tried bluebird net box trap. Mice glue and mice traps. Im afraid the h.s. will infiltrate to the gourds about 125 feet from barn.
