Re: New to the forum

Welcome!

Good job on trapping well. Another thought if you have huge waves of Starlings would be a V-Top if you have the room. I've heard of them trapping hundreds in a short time.

4th Gen...

sure thing! We always post up once our guys are home. They've arrived by clockwork on or within a day of March 14th since our colony started, so hopefully soon, especially with the warming winds coming through!

Fantastic! Hopefully ours will be back soon then too. I always wait for the Tupelo report to come in, and ours are usually back home within a few days of that.

Since you're convinced... lemme drop somethin else on ya.

Georgia gets as hot as Mississippi in summer... I'd suggest picking up the cooling caps as well.

I use BO9s in our system right now.

Yes. Get the tunnels/porches. We did, and have never looked back. The familes love them, and they're so helpful for protection and extra room once babies start stretching. We use the Ultimate Tunnel on ours, with the SREH.

Aye, a second for the tunnels/porches here! We have those exact ones on our BO9s, and they LOVE them. Very good purchase.

@ 4th Gen... I'm in Horn Lake, and like Chuck said, we get our system back up around mid February. For some reason, a few that have claimed the HOSP ridden 'death house' next door keep coming back about the 3rd week of Feb. My guys though have arrived like clockwork on March 14th each year. Last yea...

Tiffeny Yes it would make a pole less susceptible to bending at the top of the ground stake if the ground stake were higher. I think factory ones are two feet high because it shortens the length of pole above that may have flex (I'm no engineer). Of course a three or four feet high mounting post ge...

All great advice comin in at ya.. *I'll add to it a bit... VA usually gets pretty toasty in summer too right? I know it's H**l down here in MS. I have the exact same gourds and put the cooling caps on mine. It DEFINITELY made a difference, I'll never use an S&K without one. *The tunnels were a smart...

My brain gears got turning on this one.. and I got a question. I'm by no means any smart engineer type, but I can 'jimmy-rig' most anything... so... Would it help strengthen if you dropped your 2 or 3 inch square into a ground socket with sufficient concrete and then put a ground stake into the holl...

Wow how time flies! We were just missing them the other day, and now joyfully planning for their return! We'll get our unit up about mid February as usual... My guys have returned exactly March 17th the past two years. Here's hoping to it being warmer by the time they come home!
