I'm building one this summer and iv heard that a lot of people are using two treated 2x6 with a treated 2x4 sandwiched in between. This gives a sturdy pole that won't warp on you. The groove left on each side is where your cable runs

Hi Greg Iv been using 4x4 wood poles and totally agree with you about the warping. The 2x6 poles your talking about would probably work just fine as long as you aligned the edge grain of the 2x6 with the direction of your strongest winds.In our area that's from the NW direction. We are just now putting in our flower beds and i was wondering if any one has ever tried merrygold dust or petals as a bug deterant in a nestbox before.They are well known for keeping pests away and i would really like to hear if anyone has tried it before.
