Re: One baby needing to be hand fed
Thanks, I put the baby in today but had to put him or her in with a pair whose babies are 1 week behind on hatching from his original nest. He is so far behind I hope he is going to be ok. Me and my mother in law will watch him carefully, he was eating great for me when we put him in, I will keep ya...

Well yesterday I was doing nest checks and one of the pair have a baby that is very small and weak and very thin, so I took it out and h...

Re: SY male won't fit through starling resistant opening
I too had this problem and lost a martin because of it. So instead of the Martins leaving and not come back I took a file to the opening, just a little and it was just enough to get them to stay. I have had a starling get in the crescents so I now use conley 2 plates and the Martins use them and the...

Re: Lost Martins
Yes, I think the subs did it. I now have a sub with the female that lost her young and they are nesting. I want to check for eggs sooooo bad but I have babies fledging any day now, so I'm waiting. I have 2 adult males and 3 subs (2 males and 1 female) at my housing. 1 sub and 1 adult are fighting ov...

Lost Martins
After 4 years with only 1 pair I finally got a second pair this year. My second pair had 5 eggs, I was sooo happy until a storm hit here last week and my male never returned to the house. Wednesday the babies hatched just as 7 subs had been coming around for days. I was told by my mother in law to c...

Martins will not use my gourds here, La, how tall is your pole? I think my gourds are to low, under my Martin house. Mary

He is here, early
My male of 3 years came in on Thursday, and today came in with a female while 2 other Martins flew above, that was fast work for him, He is 2 weeks early and would take about 1 to 2 weeks to fine a mate.
Doing the happy dance here
Mary

I have starlings bad here, La. but the only time they have breached my conleys is this year because they chewed the conleys bigger. I replaced the conleys and am back in the keep out game.

Re: Denham Springs, LA
Hi Krista, I live in Denham Springs off Juban. I had my one male of 3 years come in on Thursday, 2 weeks early. I have noticed a drop in Martins last year and have only seen 4 total 3 of which my male brought in this weekend 1 male and 2 females, only 1 female landed and went in a hole with my male ...

Re: Tobacco stems, Anyone ever do this?
Not the leaf but the stem. Works great for small birds and parrots. I may put some in the Bluebirds housing this year as I have a bad mite and ant problem with them and no problem in the martins, but I do put 7 dust in the houses of the Martins. Mary
