Hi Annie, Have you thought about transplanting some Purple Martins? I will attach a link below and maybe you can work out a deal with the neighbors to help you. Wow! A 200 colony must be a sight. I'm hoping with all of the morning visitors .....likely out feeding from the roost location.....that my little nest of one pair and 4 fledges will grow next year. I think it would be helpful to the protection and understanding of the Purple Martin Roost if there we...

Yes Astrid, this is the same Ronnie. He has been working with Purple Martins for many years and has kept many of them from dying. He has fed many martins when it was too cold for insects. He knows how to handle them for sure. I had one purple martin fly over low over my head the first of April, it w...

Purple Martin injured at Ravenswood Roost returned
On Aug. 11th we visited the Roost in Ravenswood and were enjoying the wonder when one of the Purple Martins fell and was struggling to fly. It landed in a driveway. Ronnie Dixon checked it and it acted as though something was wrong with its neck. I am attaching photos. The first picture is Ronnie Di...

Even though our one little nest of Momma Pappa and 4 little fledges have gone, we now know they are at the roost 14 miles away in Ravenswood along the Ohio River. I am continuing with the Dawn song early mornings and have had lots of visitors. They come in bunches: 25-30 then a little later a group ...

Hey everyone, The two newspapers are doing stories on this newly discovered roost. I've been busy helping with supplying information and pointing them to the long term landlords. Just a few of us including Pat Dawson, Ronnie Dixon and friends are attempting to educate people in Ravenswood that they ...

Thank you Louise, This is a good tool to have! I will print out and take some to the roost in Ravenswood this evening we meet the photographer from the Charleston Daily Mail. Maybe this hand out along with the news story will help to halt the banging on pots and police sirens. Maybe we should name r...

Pat, We thought the Purple Martins might move down to the Ritchie Bridge spanning the Ohio River. Could they have moved? It's on the opposite end of town. We were wondering how long the roost would last...and how the current heat wave would impact the roost. It would be nice to have had a bird bandi...

The roost located North of the center of Ravenswood off Rt 68 N into the neighborhood trees. If you drive there get off I-77 at the Ravenswood exit and go into town. Turn right at the stoplight up Rt. 68 N past the Post Office on left, then turn right into a small street at a little car wash. I don'...

I am posting photos I snapped this evening of Purple Martins coming in to roost in Ravenswood, WV. Ravenswood is a small town along the Ohio River about 14 miles from Ripley where I live. I am documenting the roost for Ron Dixon of Evans who observed the roost last night and reported it to PMCA toda...

Question
Steve, That's terrific! More for next year! You must have a great camera to catch such a great shot. Looks like you have porch dividers on your Trio Castle. Where and how did you find the dividers them and how did you install them? I would like to try it. You can Email me directly if you wish. Thanks!
