Living right or just luck

Hello I loaned my better half 75 year old cousin my book how to build a T14 house. Then I gave him a pattern of a nest tray. He stopped by today for a visit and showed me a picture of his T14 house on a pole. A few days ago I was thinking about him. And hoped he wouldn't be to disappointed about not...

Re: No wonder!!! Definitely a rant!!

I've decided that I hate sparrows. I thought I just disliked them because they're invasive, aggressive, non native etc... but NOW!! I was out early this morning enough to see four purple Martins flying around my little S&K barnhouse. Great right?? Then I saw 2 sparrows chasing them and not letting ...

Hello All
Droopy Wires. I have 3 droopy wires from a telephone pole to my house on a angle with my 4 houses.. My birds love to perch on them.

Re: Adding traction to entrances...

Great! Martins will appriciate it especially those struggling. Iv got them about a half inch from the entrance. By then they have the momentum and grip, besides their shoulders should be beyond the entrance then its good. Not all need it, if I see a martin struggling I assume it just doesn't like t...

Instead of machining entrances directly into outside walls, I went with plates this way

Re: Adding traction to entrances...

Hey good question, I just didn't want to give the starlings a chance with a big piece; suppose it would work. Just wanted them to get the boost they need. Their nails are sharp, they don't need much. The strips are about 1/4 inch thick, 1/4 inch between strips. its great stuff, doesn't peel up or c...

Re: Adding traction to entrances...

I used that black traction tape 3m safety walk, comes in big strips. Iv cut some small thin strips and put it just in front of the entrance, one or two strips parallel to the entrance, just long enough to span the entrance hole. Been doing that for years, seems to work. Seems like there's always on...
