PMCA Colony Update 2020: We have Eggs

It was a slow start for our martins here at the PMCA as we experienced cold spring weather, including snow in the month of May. Our martins arrived on April 24th with our subadults following a month after on May 20th.

We were excited to see the first egg laid on May 30th by our female bird in the live camera gourd. Season 5 of Martin TV began streaming live soon after and she has now laid 4 eggs. Tune in now to see how many she lays!

We have a few other nests with a couple eggs and should see more with each nest check. Even though our staff is working from home, our field biologists are able to continue nest checks at our usual schedule of twice a week.

Stay tuned for more updates on our colonies at the PMCA and our continued research. Be sure to check in on our LiveCam and witness the eggs hatch in a couple weeks!
