Lewisville,Texas Premigratory Roost

Directions: My reporter on the Roost, Margie Clark, is thrilled to see so many martins gathering already. She suggests that the best place to view the martins is at the east end of the big parking lot. This way we can look westward into the sunset. The western sky stays lighter so we can observe the birds longer and better. For those who like to gather for a meal at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Main Street and I-35 in Lewisville, TX ( Intersection north on Main and west of I-35), we will meet there at 6:00 pm. You can also view an area map. (Requires Acrobat Reader - Get Yours) For all other landlords just meet us around 8:00 pm in the parking lot near the old Hobby Lobby Store, south of Main Street and east of Old Orchard Road. I hope many of you will be able to join us for an exciting close look and sounds of thousands of purple martins. Directions: Directions to the 17th Street Farmers\' Market: From the South on I-95: 1. While traveling North on I-95, take exit number 74C towards BROAD ST/US-250. 2. Merge onto N 17TH ST. 3. Cross BROAD ST. and Turn RIGHT onto E GRACE ST. 4. Turn LEFT onto AMBLER ST. 5. Turn LEFT onto E FRANKLIN ST. From the West on the Downtown Expressway (195): 1. When the expressway ends keep LEFT and merge onto I-95 north. Stay to the RIGHT and take the first exit, 74C towards BROAD ST. 2. Follow directions 2 through 5 above. From the West and North on I-95/1-64: 1. While traveling southeast on I-64 / I-95, pass exit for I-64 east and continue on I-95. Take exit 74B towards FRANKLIN ST. 2. You are now on 15th ST. 3. Turn LEFT onto MAIN ST. 4. Turn LEFT onto N 17TH ST. Through the city: 1. From the west, head east on MAIN ST. The street numbers increase. 2. Turn LEFT onto N 17TH ST. 3. From the east, head west on MAIN ST. The street numbers decrease. 4. Turn RIGHT onto N 17TH ST. 5. From the north, head to MAIN ST and follow above directions. 6. General Comments: Celebrating Richmond\'s Purple Martin Roost(estimated at over 10,000 + birds) at the 17th Street Farmer\'s Market, come down and enjoy specials (drink and/or food)offered by participating local restaurants. Rasberry Sherbert will be free (to the first 1,000 people) and prizes from Nature House Inc. and other Purple Martin housing manufacturer\'s will be given out to a select few. Bring the kids and your neighbors to enjoy this unique event. Also, keep an eye out in Tuesday\'s (July 15th) Richmond Times Dispatch for an article on the roost.
