Last week I found 6 eggs in a gourd, all were muddied with soil. Two of the 6 eggs were pushed out of the nest towards the entrance. Rest of the nest was unremarkable. Today, same thing. I removed the un-nested eggs.
I've never seen dirty eggs in 20 years. Our weather was very wet when the egg laying started in this nest, around 05-28-20. I'm wondering if this nest is going to make it. I removed the 2 eggs cast out of the nest. This gourd is around back on the rack where viewing adult activity is very difficult to monitor.
Anyone else finding soiled eggs? Did they go on to be a productive nest?
